ASURO gets Blue…Bluetooth

I've been writing a little while back about how disappointing ASURO's IR interface proved to be. I've extended the tests to a more realistic scenario, like having the little robot move in the same time while it sends data via IR and the results were disastrous. The transmission quality was much lower than I expected, due to the serious drain the motors inflict in the batteries and of course, the transceiver's high sensitivity to currents lower than normal.

So, things are clear now. We're going Bluetooth way, and fast because the deadline is quite near.

I was lucky enough to find Christoph, a robot enthusiast (and probably much more) that's going to provide me with the extension modules my two little ASUROs desperately need. Here's a picture of how the ASURO currently looks like and another with its (future) new look.

Once I get the extensions I will be able to share more details. Until then, there's plenty of work to do on the Vision System and the Explorer Agents.

Hello Philippe,

if you need a bluetooth extension for the ASURO there are ways to get it.
Now, it depends on if you want to build it yourself or if you want to buy the extension and just plug-and-play.

let me know which is YOUR way :)

Cheers!

Hi ParisMan,

Let me know if I can assist you in any way…after all that’s why I’m here :)

Bon nuit

OK Christian. Thanks.
I haven’t (yet) buy the ASURO but I want to know how to do to add the bluetooth module and what is the price of it? After this, i will buy the robot and the module.

Hi ParisMan,

Adding the bluetooth module is very easy: you only have to place the module in the socket where normally the ASURO’s processing unit should go (thus replacing it).
I will send you an email (if you are ok with that) with Christoph’s contact so he can further direct you and discuss about the extensions.

Cheers!

Ok Cristian.
Yes you can to send me a mail.
Have you got my e-mail?

thank you

Hello Cristian,

My name is Liviu Crisan and I am interested in the ASURO-bluetooth module.
Do you have a schematic, source code? Are they shareable?
Do you know from where to buy this module?

Thank you.
Have a nice day
Liviu Crisan

Hello Liviu

I bought my module from Christoph (see above comments).
If you want I can give you his email address but since it’s been a while from my last conversation with him I can’t promise you he makes these modules anymore…you can try though.
I will mail his contact details to you.

peace,
Cristian
