Join the static universe, ASURO Number Two!
The last four days have been quite fun, in spite of the quickly approaching project deadline.
I found some time to assemble the second ASURO robot and I can truly say the the experience with the first one had a word to say.
The process lasted 1/3 less than the first time, I also managed to make the soldering job look smoother and cleaner, however I think I inhaled more fumes this time.
I went to sleep twice in the same day just because of it ...be careful with that, I know I'm going to be.
I got rid of half the plastic binders, I decided to glue the engines of both robots to the PCB...this actually took me quite some hours because I always seemed to miss the proper positioning with the rest of the gearing. In the end it all turned out fine, especially after I greased the axles, gears and whatnot ![]()
I also have a glued finger, glued pants, greased phone screen, and glued+greased (in that order) mouse.
I have no pictures with the changes I made to my little friends because the camera is now busy taking its 'Eagle Eye' role very seriously in the Vision System.
I took the father-son relationship to a new level by involving my dad in building the Vision System's skeleton. The young future-engineer designed it and the experienced engineer built it. What else could a son want from life? We also created a system to grip the Camera and hold it perfectly above the scene and it works like a charm.
Note to self: true engineers think in mm not in cm.
Tomorrow (or the day after) I'll find a way to post some photos of the two little brothers, the scene setup, and much more
. Stay tuned.
